Is guanfacine ER the same as intuniv?
Intuniv is an extended-release (ER) formula of guanfacine. Currently, guanfacine ER is FDA approved only for use in children who are 6 through 17 years old. Intuniv is also approved as an additional therapy to stimulant medications. Guanfacine may be given in addition to stimulants to help better control ADHD symptoms.

Does intuniv help with tics?

Call your doctor at once if you have: 1 anxiety, nervousness; 2 hallucinations (especially in children); 3 severe drowsiness; 4 slow heartbeats; or 5 a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out;
What’s the best way to take Intuniv for kids?
Take Intuniv with a full glass of water, milk, or other liquid. Swallow the Intuniv tablet whole and do not crush, chew, or break it. If a child is using this medicine, tell your doctor if the child has any changes in weight. Guanfacine doses are based on weight in children, and any changes may affect your child’s dose.
