Is FlightGear a good simulator?
Since installing the flight simulator I have found it to be extremely realistic and a good training tool. I’m still finding out about all the features that are available but as I read more and more about the software I am very impressed. I recommend this for all pilots who want to setup their own home simulator.
What do you need to run FlightGear?
A 3D video card (with AMD or NVIDIA chipset) with support for OpenGL 2.1 or better and at least 1024-2048MB of dedicated DDR3+ (DDR5 preferred) VRAM (i.e. 512 Mb VRAM minimum). FlightGear requires an OpenGL 2.1-compliant hardware-accelerated 3D video card to run at reasonable frame-rates.
